Maarit Vaga is the current Finlandia Foundation National Chapter's Performer of the Year. She was first selected as POY in 2002 and was recently asked to continue until 2005.
Maarit Vaga is a classically trained soprano but her repertoire reaches far beyond the operatic borders. Specializing in Jean Sibelius' and Eduard Tubin's art songs, Ms. Vaga also entertains audiences with passionate Finnish Tangos and delightful arrangements of well-known Finnish and Estonian folk-songs.
